JE anime/manga/toku connections list

Hey gang! My application to lead a JE panel at Tekkoshocon has been accepted!!

My plan is to “give a brief introduction and history of the company and their groups, explaining their overwhelming presence in Japanese and Asian media.” I intend to do this especially through examples that anime convention attenders are more likely to have some familiarity with already.

In order to do this, I’m working to compile a list of anime, manga, and tokusatsu connections to Johnny’s groups & individual members. This includes live drama adaptations of manga, voice acting for anime, op/ed theme songs, etc! Also, if you know of a series released in America that regularly refers to Johnny’s, a particular group, etc (for example: Honey Hunt) please list those as well! I’m also going to list mainstream releases in America with JE connections (ie Letters from Iwo Jima) so please help with those as well!

I’m leaving this post unlocked, so if you know of anyone else who could help please send them this way!

Thanks in advance~

Manga references:

Honey Beat – Johnny’s referred to regularly, one of the main characters is member of fictional JE group “KNIGHTS”

Hana Kimi – Nakajo Hisaya regularly mentions JE boys & music (SMAP, V6, TOKIO) in the sidepanels. Characters Sano Izumi and Ashiya Mizuki are named after Sano Mizuki (an older undebuted Jr. who mostly does stage plays)

Ouran – has mentioned JE, but is mostly edited out of English release by VIZ

Nakajo Hisaya regularly mentions JE boys and music (I've specifically seen SMAP, V6, Tokio, but nothing below that I think) in Hana-Kimi's little sidepanels, and apparently the characters Sano Izumi and Ashiya Mizuki are named after Sano Mizuki, who's in the agency (but really old xD). Ouran's mentioned JE at least once, but it's mostly been edited out by Viz people. No one cares, but Taguchi Junnosuke (KAT-TUN) was in the Happy! TV movies which were based on manga.

YamaNade is probably worth mentioning cause Wallflower is pretty popular here. WILL COMMENT WHEN MY BRAIN IS WORKING AGAIN. XD

ah~ thanks for all the info! I've added it to the list :) (makes me want to go back and re-read hana kimi for all the sidepanel references that I didn't get before!)
